It's all About the Eternal Present
It's healthy to be aware. But-but-but do I really need to pay attention to all this nonsense (& worse) during these perilous times? Surely the so-called "news" can't be good for my soul?! It seems like everywhere I look and hear is another piece of bad, bad news: wars and threats of of more, hate mongering, fear of the other--and sense when did my neighbors become "the other?", , , Prices out of control, threats against our safety. I understand why it seems sensible to keep track of everything, but I just want to close my eyes, turn away from all the old outlets of what we used to call the daily news, and maybe even bury my head in the proverbial sand. I can only handle so much BAD NEWS, darnit!!
And yet, what precious piece of my individuality will I sacrifice with my head in the sand? What OTHER
What is Authenticity?
The term "Authenticity" has become so common, that I often wonder what people mean when they refer to it. Is it just a buzzword? Maybe. I worry that it has come to describe an attitude of being & doing whatever/however a person want & excusing the behavior under the umbrella of "authenticity . . . HELLOOOO!!" It's become an excuse in a sly maneuver as some kind of 'get out of jail free card.' Ultimately that's a sad statement pointing to the gamification of one's humanity.
